Famous American drummer , Anthon Fier who was the member of The Feelies and the Long Lizards, has passed away at 66 on Wednesday, 21st September, 2022. Let's discuss, what happened to him and more specifically what was the reason behind his demise.

HOW DID FIER DIE?

Fier was celebrated drummer, bandleader, composer and he collaborated with countless artists throughout his life. Anthon worked additionally with John Greaves and Pere Ubu in The Lodge. Ubu paid tribute to Fier on 1978, on Datapanic in the Year Zero EP.

Anthon Fier, collaborated with Bill Laswell and also extensively worked, toured and recorded with BOB Mould, the guitarist, vocalist and song writer of Husker Du.

This Wednesday, the news of Fier's death was shared by his fellow bandmate Syd Straw who performed with him on Golden Palominos in the 1980s.

Straw wrote on facebook , "Devastated to tell you of the sorry demise of Anton Fier, who never realized how loved he was."

The Long Lavish Career Of Fier

Fier, the highly talented American musician was born in Cleveland, Ohio on 20th June, 1956. he was the early member of Feelies and joined in the year 1978. He played drum in their debut album "Crazy Rhythms" despite of leaving the band a year ago. In 1981, Fier was a part of self titled debut of Lounge Lizards.

In the same year (1981) he founded Golden Palominos and served as bandleader for decades. The band debuted with their self titled album in 1983 and launched seven more album since 1996s "Dead Inside".

In the same year Anthon Fier played and recorded John Zorn-led album Locus Solus. For Zorn's 50th birthday they recorded a live album "50th Birthday Celebration Volume 3".

In 1984, Fier played for Laurie Anderson's "Mister Heartbreak".

In 2012, the band Golden Palominos was rejuvenated itself and released an album titled "A Good Country Mile" with Kevin Kinney.

On 11th October, 2019, Syd Straw, a member of Golden Palaminos posted on Facebook that Fier was no longer playing the drum.

Today Fier is no more. May his soul rest in peace. But he will ever remembered with his amazing creations.
